If you’re into glaciers, seracs, couloirs, and all that high altitude shizzle then it’s time to get equipped with the best gear in the business.
No one does ski mountaineering kit quite like Petzl, who are offering one lucky winner the chance to bag £526 worth of their absolutely bomber gear.
First up is the Petzl RAD crevasse rescue system (£240), an ultra-lightweight rope kit that is top of our backcountry editor Martin Chester’s ‘recommended’ list.
“It features an excellent 30m rope weighing only 660g and a micro-traxion locking pulley. This provides a low-friction clutch for hauling,” says Martin. “With a rope this light, there is no excuse for only having one in the team.”
Also in the featherweight category are the Leopard LLF crampons (£104). They feature a light but strong aluminium construction, tool-free length adjustment and Cord-Tec flexible linking system that minimises bulk when they are stowed in your pack.
The Ride ice-axe (£70) is equally as light and compact. It boasts all the tech, including a steel head, pick tapered to 3mm for good penetration in ice, plus a curved shaft and machined grip for good handling.
Next up is the Fly harness (£80). Ultra-lightweight (notice a trend here?), it can be donned with both feet on the ground, while wearing skis or crampons, and it features Petzl’s patented innovative buckle-free construction.
Big days often require early starts and/or late finishes, so you’ll need the Bindi headlamp (£32) in your pack. Weighing barely 35g, it gives out 200 lumens, has three lighting modes, and is rechargeable via a USB port.
If the products or sizes required are out of stock an item of a similar value will be offered.
