The Fifty Project

It’s back | Season 4 of The Fifty Project – Cody Townsend’s mission to ski the 50 hardest lines in the States. It drops with Line 37

The passion project of pro skier Cody Townsend and his backcountry buddy (and cinematographer) Bjarne Salen, The Fifty is an adventure story that unfolds in real time – an attempt to climb and ski all the lines in the book The Fifty Classic Ski Descents of North America.

With 36 lines down, year four of The Fifty kicks off with The Comstock Couloir in the Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia. Check it out:

In 2019 the first episode of 50 planned aired – a nearly live web series chronicling Cody’s attempt to ski all 50 lines from the book The Fifty Classic Ski Descents of North America. All lines in the book have been skied at least once, but all the lines have not been skied by one person. He intends to change that.

It’s a journey, a struggle, an obsession and most of all, an excuse to have a hell of a good time in the mountains.

From Alaska to Colorado, California to Baffin Island, these lines are among the most difficult in the world. And for one extra twist, Townsend intends to do it the hard way, by climbing every line that he skis.

Tune in to YouTube on 5 October to see where the next line is. The episode is dedicated to big mountain skier and accomplished mountaineer Hilaree Nelson, who died on the mountain last week after summiting Manaslu.
