REIMA TAITOA THERMALS

TESTED BY NICOLA, MOTHER OF LUPO, 6, AND PAX, 4

Only a moment after my four and six-year-olds fly into the kitchen and land in some sort of a kung fu stance declaring, “we are stripy ninjas!”, my four-year-old takes me aside and whispers to me, “Mummy, they’re not even itchy”.

Now, I’m sure most parents would agree that two of the key things they value in their kids’ lives are their stoke and their comfort. Reima has managed to create a matching top and bottom baselayer, called Taitoa, which succeeds in ticking both of these boxes.

The boys think they are the most comfortable thermals they have tried, thanks to Reima’s bamboo viscose weave on the inner side of the thermals. They are super soft – soft enough to not provoke the contact dermatitis that other polyester thermals tend to in my youngest. The wool outer layer keeps them warm, but the fabric is breathable enough not to make them overheat.

As for the crazy-cool stripe patterns, I guarantee your kids will love them, but if they are too much for your eyes then Reima offers more classic solid colours on its website.

Seeing more and more articles on the damage that washing synthetic textiles does to our world’s waterways, the all-natural fibre blend should let those with ecological concerns sleep better too. Nice.

Verdict

Wool-bamboo thermals that are as soft, snazzy and ecological
as they get.
