About Fall Line

Fall Line Skiing magazine has been published for 31 years and the website has been online for 25 years. The team is a dedicated group of knowledgeable and passionate skiers who work closely with each other but in different locations. There is no Fall Line office, so our internal communication is by email, Zoom and meetings.

We need an Administrator to join the team. Is that you, or someone you know?

Who we’re looking for

An experienced administrator with good attention to detail and good customer service skills. You’ll be part of the team but working from home using your initiative and without day-to-day leadership.

Skiing experience will really help, and access to a post office to manage the flow of deliveries is essential. Space to store magazines, exhibition materials, subscriber gifts etc. is also useful.

Summary of the role

This role is a focal point for Fall Line. You’ll be the main contact point for readers, subscribers and suppliers. The key elements are managing the subscription process, liaising with the printer and other services and organising Fall Line’s presence and attendance at events. Advertisers have a separate contact who looks after that side of the business.

Responsibilities

Subscription management
Manage subscriptions, following up failed orders and unpaid subscriptions.  Check transactions to ensure current subscriptions remain active.  Respond to enquiries from subscribers by phone and email.  Send out free gifts to new subscribers, and magazine orders to customers. Work with the sales team to maintain the list of advertisers and contributors who receive the magazine.

Magazine distribution
Work with the publisher and the distributor to plan the print figures. Provide mailing lists to the printer, ensuring all current subscribers and advertisers receive the correct magazines, manage the online publication of the magazine.  Ensure the retailer stockists receive their stock.  Manage the online magazine publication including adding information to the website and publishing on Issuu.

Letters page 
Help compile the letters pages including receiving emails and coordinating the prizes for selected winner in each issue.

Events
For three or four annual events – manage the registration and admin, arrange exhibition materials, coordinate colleagues, attend event when required.

Promotion
Promote Fall Line subscriptions to clubs and organisations as well as individuals, manage contra deals (we promote them if they promote us), promote the magazine to potential stockists (eg retailers and holiday companies) and coordinate distribution, promote the newsletter to increase recipient numbers.

Other
There are numerous other tasks the successful candidate could be involved with, depending on experience, skill and interest.  These include but are not limited to – arranging contra deals (eg for insurance, subscriber gifts etc), proof reading, writing copy for competitions, assisting the online editor, sourcing competition prizes, exploring social media promotions, designing Fall Line adverts.

Hours

20-30 hours per week August – February
10 hours per week March – September
Availability is Monday – Friday with some weekend work at events
