Huski – food delivery in the French Alps

Quality alpine meals with no effort: why one company is in demand this ski season

Catered chalets may be on the decline but that doesn’t mean the convenience of a catered chalet needs to be too. One company that’s seen demand for its services soar is Huski – a quality French meal delivery service. With its 20-strong team Huski has been busy this winter serving up thousands of meals to hungry skiers visiting the French ski resorts (see below for a long list of where).

Huski is a food delivery company that services ski resorts in the French Alps. It started life six years ago with a team of three British skiers and it’s been growing ever since.

The secret to its success?

“It’s a host of reasons” says co-founder Paddy Griffith. “We employ local chefs at our kitchens in Bourg St Maurice and we serve a range of meals that are authentic to the Savoie area as well as French dishes and of course British favourites.  There really is something for everyone”.

With catered chalets in short supply the Huski food delivery offering is attractive. When compared to picking up ingredients separately from the invariably small, local, crowded supermarket it’s a competitive option. Add to that the fact that you don’t need to spend time cooking in the kitchen and you can see why #FreeTheSkier is the company’s social hashtag.

“We deliver to all French resorts on Saturday and Sundays to help with arrival days – and deliver top-ups midweek that don’t get in the way of your skiing – typically arriving between 4 – 8 pm. It doesn’t even matter if our customers have arrived in the resort or got back from skiing, as we arrange to get the keys. There’s nothing better than arriving at your chalet with the fridge already filled. All they need to do is heat and eat”.

For large parties this is a great option and leaves friends and family time to enjoy their holiday. With an impressive drinks menu – wines sourced from the Savoie region as well as classic French and International wines and craft beers at competitive prices – Huski is creating a new kind of French catered chalet holiday. Plus, it’s got any dietary requirements covered – gluten intolerance, dairy free, plant-based diets.

And it doesn’t stop there. Book ahead and arrive at your chalet fresh from the train or plane to a fridge filled with essentials for the week. One less thing to worry about.

Making sure everything runs like the Swiss trains is Operations Manager, Tania Flewitt: “We want our customers to get the most out of their ski holiday and we don’t want preparing for meal times to get in the way. And customers seem to love it. We are very proud to say we have scored 100% 5-star reviews on Facebook and 4.9 rating on Google. It makes all the effort we put in worthwhile.”

“It’s been a busy six years and we’re loving it,” adds Griffith. “Helping people enjoy their time in the mountains is paramount to us and if we can help by delivering delicious, hand-prepared meals then we’re happy.”
