If you’re struggling to remain positive in these uncertain times then you can always count on the mountains to deliver hope and inspiration – even if you can’t venture into them right now.
As the world tries to cope with the devastating effects of the current coronavirus pandemic, Switzerland has decided to use its most iconic mountain to send a beacon of hope to the world.
Whenever there is a clear evening, the Matterhorn will be lit up from sunset to 11pm with a variety of messages including #hope and advice to #stayhome.
“With this light projection, Zermatt wants to give people a sign of hope and solidarity in these difficult times. The village shows solidarity with all the people who are currently suffering and is grateful to all those who are helping to overcome the crisis,” said Zermatt Tourism.
“The Matterhorn has always been a symbol of Switzerland and a place of strength and stability. Zermatt is convinced: as strong as the Matterhorn, so strong must the society stand together, be anchored and let the storm pass.”
