Head – i.SuperShape Magnum
A new version for this season, the Magnum is the second narrowest of the Speed (68mm) Rally and Titan Supershape lineup. The Supershapes get Graphene for this season, though exactly how it’s used remains a secret (translate as ‘mystery’). The skis certainly feel different; some claimed the new Magnum is easier to ski than the outgoing model; we’d say it felt damper and harder edging, which isn’t always easier. Let’s agree on smoother and concentrate on the way this ski turns, which is what a 13m radius piste ski is all about. It’s as easy to roll the Magnums (and the other skis in the series) from side to side if you want to search for grip on boilerplate piste, with that large, lightly rockered nose biting hard and fast and the turn arc defining almost immediately. Force yourself to work and the tail comes into play, driving with a mighty shove rather than a snap – evidence of this new damper construction.
