Faction – Nine5
Proving that mid-90s is the new everything else, Faction have truly hit the ground at a pace this season and delivered a lively, enjoyable and hard-driving all-mountain ski which soaked up every part of the mountain. The core has been changed this year from poplar and ash to poplar and beech, which we suspect is as much to do with supply as the subtle differences, especially given that there’s a layer of metal added into the mix to damp the flex. The more powerful/heavier testers got the most from the Nine5 – which is a trait we see when longer turn radii are evident. You can flick these around, but you’ll need to bend that shorter running length to do so. Quick edge to edge response and solid stability up its on-piste credentials, while a generous nose and tail rocker offer outstanding lift when you hit the powder. A proper AM model for a fair price which offers a true alternative to mainstream brands.
