Dalbello – Lupo AX 110 W
Freeride boots are a hard nut to crack: they need to be comfortable and light enough to hike up and earn turns when the resorts get tracked out, yet without compromising stability and power on the way down. Dalbello’s Lupo AX110 manages both aplomb, with a super sweet flex that needs to be experienced to be believed. The key is the unique three-piece ‘Carbrio Design Architecture’ Dalbello use in preference to the traditional overlap design. The clog, shell/cuff and tongue all bolt together separately, which means the lower can be made of a stiffer plastic for effortless power transfer without affecting the deep and progressive forward flex ‘ there’s no ‘wall’ to hit, rather they just get stiffer and more supportive the further forward you flex. This also means the clog doesn’t buckle and distort when flexed hard forward, providing a smoother and more comfortable ride even at high speed in rough snow. Downhill performance is further enhanced by the special ‘Dynalink’ buckle. Located over the instep and ankle, it pulls and holds the foot back into the heal pocket for un-matched foot retention and quick responses when edging or working the tails of your skis ‘ big powder slashes have never felt so good! The Carbrio design and removable tongue also allows greater freedom of movement once the sturdy walk mode has been engaged too, with a massive 67′ (40′ forward, 27’ back) range of motion; at just 1610g (in a 26.5) and with inserts for pin tech bindings, the Lupo flies uphill almost as fast as it charges down.
