Armada – Invictus 89Ti
A super potent go-anywhere ski – Armada are so on song right now. We’d pick a pair for a trip with a piste bias and the chance of some snow. Most of the time they ski narrower than they say and then when the snow lands… They’re like old school powder skis with a bit more flick and wriggle. Armada also do Invictus models without the metal, so pick depending on weight because the wood-only versions are no soft cop-out – they still respond beautifully. Back to the 89 Ti – which is just about the pick of an excellent range thanks to that piste performance. With proper levels of edge grip at low and high speed, and upper-end scores for high speed turns it’s a serious contender for an all mountain gong, hence the status as Editor’s pick. Rebound is excellent in softer snow, letting the Invictus ski above its width once you’re in the groove and sucking it up between turns, when the beefy construction keeps it tracking perfectly.
