Armada – ARV106
Maybe the funnest ski we’ve tested to date – and we thought that wideish, softish twin-tips went out with luminous nose sunblock. The flex is absolutely spot on to get the edges holding onto hardpack, yet there’s easily enough spring to loony around. Just goes to show what happens when you mix up materials with some thought – there are carbon stringers for added pop, and lightened ends to allow the spinners to freak out. With enough torsional stability to hold it together as the pace increases, the 106 has plenty enough rocker and width to make spicy jam out of softer snow. Choose what you use it as: backcountry freestyler, super-playful freerider or sneaky park jaunts are all part of the portfolio. And it’ll cruise like a V8 when you’re moving around between the fun-zones. The truly excellent pay-off for ARV106 purchasers is how they’re going to have the biggest grins within 10 seconds of clicking in.
