Mega snow dump heading to the Alps

Is snow coming to the alps? We’re keeping all our fingers and toes crossed

Anyone who’s been in the Alps this week will tell you it’s not exactly feeling wintery out there… After a big dump in October the weather turned warm and the mountains turned, well, green. But things are looking up, with weather maps showing snow on the horizon.

Yes, temperatures are taking a much-needed downturn and the snow is predicted to hit the Alps over the next week. The Northwest is set to get the biggest snowfalls, with some websites predicting over a metre of snow to hit Chamonix over the next six days.

Val Thorens, which is set to open this weekend, is predicted to get 60cm, while over in Switzerland Engelberg, where the Titlis glacier is already running, is expecting 83cm (hooray!).

Here’s hoping the weather stays cool and that the Alps buck the recent trend of painfully slow season starts…
