Protest World Rookie Fest 2011 re-cap

With five riders on the podium, Norway conquered the title of best team at the Protest World Rookie Fest 2011, hosted in Livigno, Italy, at the Mottolino Snowpark.

Norwegian rising star Emil Andre Ulsletten resulted the best rider of the event and won, among the many prizes, his ticket to ride for the Oakley Arctic Challange in Oslo. Anna Gyrmati from Hungary won the girl category and got a ticket to the Rip Curl Sista Sessions in Austria.

As in the past edition, the Protest World Rookie Fest resulted a great platform for future stars of snowboarding, and it brought together in Livigno almost 100 selected riders from 15 nations. With a world class snowpark and the best under 18-year-old riders, the Protest World Rookie Fest in Livigno resulted again as the most awaited snowboard youth event of the season. Special guest of the event and Yeti of the Final Day was Roope Tonteri, former WSF World Rookie Champion, who stomped some amazing tricks including a Cab1260.

Among the Rookie section, reserved for riders born in 1993, 1994 and 1995, the Norwegian rippers dominated the male category conquering first, second and third places. Emil Andre Ulsletten won the event with a sick run including fs1080, cab1080, boardslide 450out on the cannon-ball and switch bs900. He won a ticket to the Oackley Arctic Challange in Oslo, a filming trip to Chile, a photoshooting with Onboard Europe, Surf Camp in Santander by surftolive.com. On the male rookie podium stood two other Norwegians: Peder Midttomme and Havard Bergheim. All of them won also tickets to the Ride Shakedown in Garmish and to the Protest World Rookie Finals in Ischgl, Austria. The best girl was the hungarian Anna Gyrmati, who was awarded with a ticket to the Rip Curl Sista Session in Austria and in inviation to a photoshooting with Cooler Magazine. Second girl on the podium was Katarzyna Rusin from Polland, and third Nora Thompson from Norway.

Among the Grom category, born from 1996 onwards, new mini-rockers surprised the spectators with amazing tricks including backside and frontside720, bs900 and cab540. Seamus O'Connor from Ireland resulted the best, followed on the podium by switzerland Lucien Koch and norwegian Mons Roisland. Maria Delfina Maiocco from Italy, aka "Bibi", won the grom girls category and got her ticket to the Protest World Rookie Finals in Ischgl. Second was Katerina Vojackova from Czech Republic and third Chloe Sillieres from France.

Among the many prizes, all the podium riders, both grom and rookies, male and females, are now qualifed for the 4Star Protest World Rookie Finals, to be held in Ischgl, Austria, from 6 to 10 april 2011, and 6 of them got invited for free.

The Protest World Rookie Fest is a Climate Neutral Event. It measures its own carbon footprints and then takes action by reducing emissions and offsetting unavoidable emissions by purchasing credits from Renewable Energy from Wood Biomass based in Tirano, a few kilometers from Livigno.
