Val di Fassa/Carezza (TrenTino region)

Val di Fassa runs from Vigo di Fassa to Canazei and includes Pozza di Fassa. Despite being little more than villages, happily they think like towns when it comes to nightlife, eating and facilities.

This is also one of the best connected areas, linking into the Sella Ronda ski circuit and with easy access to other areas including Obereggen, Arabba and San Martino. It's a great base for exploring using a Dolomiti Superski pass.

Pozza di Fassa and Canazei both hook into the wide-open spaces below the Sella Brunech, the high point of a long, north-facing ridge, which keeps its snow in great condition for ages after a fall. It's mainly reds up there and also on the opposite side of the valley under the Col Rodella. For beginners the best area is off the PlanFrataces lift station, which links you into Passo Pordoi. There's also a wide area for learning up the winding road from Vigo di Fassa to Passo Costalunga, tucked behind Moena.

More testing runs live off the top of Belvedere, but enthusiasts will make the most of the vast lift-accessed off-piste around the different stations. From Canazei and Campitello you can link straight into Passo Pordoi and hence the Sella Ronda, Arabba and the South Tyrolean resorts in Val Gardena.
