Val Senales, Italy

Val Senales is a little freestyle summer gem tucked away in the heart of the South Tyrol, we visited a couple of year's ago and it looked a little like this...

Val Gardena (South Tyrol region)

This is one vast area.

Val di Fiemme/Obereggen (Trentino/South Tyrol regions)

Sitting at the top of one of the narrower gorges you can drive up, Obereggen is a piste-side mini resort that links into the Latemar ski area.

Val di Fassa/Carezza (TrenTino region)

Val di Fassa runs from Vigo di Fassa to Canazei and includes Pozza di Fassa. Despite being little more than villages, happily they think like towns when it comes to nightlife, eating and facilities.

Tre Valli (Trentino/Belluno Veneto Regions)

The Tre Valli is based around Moena. You’ve the option of staying here and enjoying a traditional Italian mountain town, or basing yourself on the pistes at a resort like Passo San Pellegrino.

San Martino di Castrozza (Trentino region)

It’s a bigger town than all the others, bar Cortina

Kronplatz/Plan De Corones (South Tyrol region)

This is the most peculiar-looking mountain you’ll ever see

Cortina d’Ampezzo (Veneto region)

It’s a famous town with famous people walking its famous streets.

Arabba/Marmolada (Belluno Veneto/Trentino regions)

On the face of it, here we have a typical tiny Dolomitian village, tucked in the heart of the Trentino region, complete with small village square, several cheap guesthouses, enough hotels to suit everyone and a smattering of eateries with real people as well as tourists.

The South Tyrolean border resort: Alta Pusteria/Hochpustertal (South Tyrol region)

A South Tyrolean masterpiece tucked up near the Austrian border but still in the Dolomites.
