Downhill in the Dolomites
Here’s one for lovers of all things luxurious… and lycra! Pine Lodge Dolomites, a luxury chalet in Selva, Italy, is offering complimentary VIP tickets to the FIS World Cup Downhill Event for guests staying at the lodge between 16-20 December 2015. It doesn’t come cheap at €6000 for four nights (based on eight guests), but that does include breakfast, afternoon tea and four-course evening meals, plus use of the chalets facilities (in-home cinema, pool, sauna, bar and gym, to name but a few).
La Plagne on the cheap
Calling all cash-strapped students! Action-Outdoors are offering students with a valid ID card a trip to La Plagne for £350 all inclusive. The price includes seven nights full board at the centrally located UCPA centre in ensuite shared rooms plus 6.5 days ski pass, 6.5 days rental, return coach travel from London and 12 hours instruction. It almost makes that £9000 tuition fee worth it. Departs 12 December.
Big snowfall means that many North American resorts are whirring into action earlier than planned, including Aspen, which opens 14 November. And with El Nino predicted to bring more goodies, the Colorado resort is a safe choice for a white Christmas. VIP SKI are offering £429 off their Redwood Suite – comprising of four bedrooms (sleeps eight) and a private hot tub – for the week beginning 20 December. The £1500 price tag includes flights from Gatwick, coach transfers and VIP SKI’s excellent chalet service.
If you can’t schlepp it over to Colorado for Christmas but want guaranteed snow you need to head high. With slopes up to 2870m, Ischgl is one of Austria’s highest resorts, boasting a season that lasts from mid-November to early May. Ski Solutions has slashed prices for Christmas week, with seven nights chalet board accommodation at the 4* Chalet Belmonte from £805 pp, saving £310 (book by 27 November). The price includes flights from Manchester departing 20 December.
Super-size Park City
Park City and Canyons are linking this season to make the biggest single ski area in the USA, with over 7300 acres to play in. Ski Safari is offering a 30% discount on selected accommodation in Park City, plus £100 credit. For example, 10 nights in a one bed suite at the 4* Sundial Lodge starts at £1985, including an Epic 7 Day pass, if booked by 20 November.
Mid-week made easy
Mid-week chalet holidays are hard to come by, but Powder White has an impressive selection, including a three-night trip to Verbier for £65pp per night. You’ll get to stay at the ski in/ski out Chalet Mont Gele, just a few minutes from the resort centre and boasting ensuite bathrooms and balconies throughout. Departs 31 January.
