Zoe Gillings since the Olympics

We called upon the UK's snowboard cross charger to find out what's been up since the Olympics

"Since the Olympics I have been quite busy. I injured the cartilage in my knee during the Olympic competition (that’s why I didn’t race in the final heat by the way) so I have been getting a lot of physio and other treatment on that, some at home in the Isle of Man and some at the British Olympic Association centre near London.

I have got to spend some more time at home recently, my brother kept trying to get me to go do action sports with him but I have to be careful with my knee still so couldn’t do much, to his disappointment.

While I was at home I visited a couple of local schools. First I went to the primary school which is just down the road from my parent’s house, I went there last year to talk to the kids about life as a pro athlete etc and they were super exited to see me again after watching me at the games.

I also went to one of the high schools to talk to the 6th form students, that was good fun for me because they were older they asked loads of very informed questions.

Next week I am back in Bath where I am going to be based for the summer at the English Institute of sport there, through them I can get access to strength and conditioning coaches, physios, doctors, sports psychologists, loads of stuff so it’s a very good place for me to be based for my off snow training.

I am doing some sponsor events next month too, the one I am looking forward to the most is my sponsor BMW’s driving day at Oulton park which should be awesome!

A lot of people have been asking me what my plans are now the Olympics are over. I say, now start the preparations for the next Olympics, not to mention the 28 world cups, 4 X games and 2 world championships along the way!"
