The Oakley Grom Games

On 17th April 2010 the Chill Factore (Manchester) will be hosting the first ever Oakley Grom Games which will see a gathering of British skiers & snowboarders for a freestyle slopestyle event like no other!

There will be ski & snowboard jam sessions throughout the day followed by an evening invitational knockout competition that riders can qualify for through the earlier jam sessions. There will also be a Red Bull after party for all competitors and spectators.

The Oakley Grom Games is for all ages and standards of freestyler and the competition will be run as a Jam session format to give the riders the greatest chance of putting down their best tricks. There will be two Jam sessions; one for skiers and one for snowboarders and there will be four different age categories; 12yrs and under, 13-17yrs, 18-24yrs and 25yrs and over, ski and snowboard. The Jam session prize giving will be taking place on the slope after each session and, to make it super exciting, the judges will be choosing skiers and snowboarders from the jam sessions to battle it out in the evening invitational knockout event where those chosen will be skiing against other pro skiers and snowboarders.

The invitational knockout event will be a showdown of some of the biggest names in freeskiing and snowboarding who will be battling it out for some of the biggest prizes ever to be given away at a UK snowsports event including a 50" Panasonic plasma TV and much more. There will be 16 skiers and 16 snowboarders competing in the evening showdown where this will be also a jam session format until the judges break it down to the final 4 skiers and 4 snowboarders for the final knockout stage.

Oakley have already pre invited some of the biggest names on the scene who will be flying back from their winter locations to compete against all the other qualified riders. To keep updated on who has been pre invited visit WWW.GROMGAMES.CO.UK

As there will be a range of standards and ages of skiers & snowboarders on the day, there will be a mixture of features in the Grom Games freestyle arena. There will be a pro line and a rookie line, each featuring rails, boxes, jumps and other jibs.

We will have one special feature that will be saved for the evening invitational which is still tbc.

The after party will be kicking off in the Chillies bar at 9pm and its here where you can watch the evening invitational event while having a few drinks and catching up with friends. There will be DJs playing and prize giving.

Oakley Grom Games is proudly supported by Salomon Freeski, Salomon Snowbaords, Skullcandy, Vans, Baw Bags, Chill factore. Retailer partners include Snow & Rock & Subvert.
