It might be worth starting with a basic, the factory. You have to make skis somewhere and Movement Ski proudly claim to be the owner of their production facility, AST. It's a factory that has been producing skis for over 10 years, "Our production facility uses the hand-made multi-component wet process, the hand lay-up of wet fibreglass or other fiber materials, like carbon fibre. This labour-intensive process is absolutely the best technology for unparalleled reliability and durability of skis."
Quality not quantity is the name of the game here and Movement are proud to source suppliers from Switzerland and Europe.
They only use pure wood cores which means no composite synthetic / wood cores (with injected foam).
Movement certifies that the origin of their cores are all FSC / PEFC, and they have eliminated the use of toxic adhesives.
Topsheets are a 0.5 mm double polyamide (ICP8210), available in different surface treatments (corund / grip / noppe / glossy).
The surface treatments are selected for each specific use. This durable polyamide has an anti-UV treatment (no yellowing), resists abrasion, and resists deformation with high temperature fl uctuation.
The anti-stick grip surface treatment resists snow sticking and can be cleaned without damaging the surface.
FibreglassFibreglass is crucial for the effective mechanics of the ski. Movement develop and produce their own exclusive fibreglass and carbon-fiber mat that is perfectly tuned for each ski in our product range. They are specific for our skis—none of these mat products are off-the-shelf.
The tri-axial, pre-impregnated fi breglass binding reinforcement plates used in MOVEMENT SKIS are completely integrated into the wood core secure binding retention.
Fiberglass plates, unlike metal mounting plates, do not inhibit the ski’s smooth flex. There are no metal
binding reinforcement plates in MOVEMENT SKIS, specifically to maintain the skis‘ flex, to eliminate bending issues, and for edge-hold on every type of snow.
Mounting plates are designed in lengths specific to the appropriate bindings used in the different ski
programmes (freeski / adventure / freestyle / touring).

Movement use three different edges:
• a light version (1.8 mm) for touring and high-mountain ski models
• a wider version (2 mm) for freeski, adventure, and freestyle
• one for the rental line (2.4 mm)
The edges get a special anti-rust treatment and are pre-formed before insertion into the compression mould. A rubberlaminate between the edges and the other materials is used to promote strong adhesion and seals out water.
The ski’s tip and tail are reinforced with ABS layers that absorb shock and reduce vibration on hard snow.

The better the base quality, the faster the ski will glide.
Movement use very hard bases, which make the skis fast and very durable.

The sidewalls are a mix of ABS and fiberglass. The three advantages to the combination of materials are
• durability
•shock absorption on impact
• optimal power transmission/edge hold.
The edges have a rubber laminate that joins it, the ABS sidewall and the fiberglass, acting as a seal to prevent water infiltration that could compromise the edge’s durability.
GraphicsMovement have a very precise die-cutter that allows them to produce precise diecuts in their factory.
The diecuts are positioned so that they do not inhibit glide.
All diecut colours are made out of the same material, eliminating irregularities between different-coloured materials.
Gadgets and gizmosThe skis are molded individually in a double press. The wet process (impregnation of fabric mat with 2-component resins) is the way MOVEMENT’s base preparation and finished.
New machines are invested in each year as technology evolves, and frequent quality controls
take place throughout the process, with the final phase being the protective hot wax coating.
The ASA system is an aluminium plate inserted along the ski edges under the binding area. It adds extra reinforcement for rail slides.
The VATECH system is a layer of vibration-dampening rubber inserted under the binding, for better edge grip and a smoother ride.
