Stuttgart took over the area of Neckarpark on the outskirts of town
Nearly 7000 spectators turned up to watch the international line up competing for the $50.000 USD prize purse. American rider, Chas Guldemond, took the top spot on the podium and earned himself 500 TTR Ranking points, which moved him into the Swatch TTR Top 20. Austrian, Werni Stock, came in second place
moving him into TTR World No.4 and Mario Ka?ppeli (SUI) rounded out the podium in third place.
Exciting Competition Format
The crowds were cheering loud for their favorites as each rider performed three runs over the
spectacular big air construction reaching up to 36-meters high. The jump was followed by a rail
staircase with three options including a double kinked rail, down rail and a jib-barrel. The riders
had to stomp one style run and one technical run, leaving the third run up to the riders own choice
as to which run to improve on.
Another aspect making this event special was the opportunity for a rookie to join the pro riders in
the main competition through a rookie challenge qualification. Austrian up-and-comer, Simon
Pircher, showed off his skills and made it all the way to the semi finals. Local favorite, Elias
Elhardt, was the best-placed German rider barely missing the finals round and taking 5th place
moving him in TTR World No.10. Also German young gun, Ethan Morgan had a promising start to
the day qualifying into the semi finals in third and finally placing 6th making the local crowds go
wild.
Guldemond is Back on the Swath TTR Tour
Chas Guldemond’s winning run consisted of a Double Cork 1080 stiffy over the kicker and a
stylish gap-to-backside boardslide on the staircase.
"I am stoked to be here in Germany. I hope the TTR continues this event, because I really like this progressive format and good event setup. I am really looking forward to go to the BEO in Laax and continue my TTR Tour. Let ?s see how it ends up!", he said with a smile.
He is eager for a comeback on the Swatch TTR Tour from the 2009/10 season where he finished in World No.2 in the World Tour Ranking and was really going after the top spot. Chas took a year away from the competition scene last season, but is back on board and will be one to watch over the next two weeks at the 6Star O’Neill Evolution and at the 6Star Burton European Open.
