The site team made a Herculean effort to maintain the course, but due to the total lack of snow it was deemed unsafe to continue. Therefore, it was stipulated that the finals were selected based on the one timed run.
Peter Whelan still managed to clock a rapid time of 46.13 seconds and Emily Sarsfield seized her victory with a time of 49.49 seconds. Despite the conditions the competitors remained in good spirits and look forward to a re-run in 2012 in more favourable conditions.

Stuart Brass commented “Running the cross events this year has been a monumental challenge and my thanks go out to all the staff who did everything they could to make it happen. I also want to thank the competitors for being patient with us and also to explain the confusion with the age category prize giving. Some of the younger competitors and masters had opted to forfeit their age category to compete for the overall title, but due to the cancellation of the heats and with the timed run counting as the final result, we felt the fairest way was to put everyone in order of fastest to slowest regardless of age and select the fastest three times for the overall title. We then went through the age categories in the same manner choosing the top three fastest times regardless of whether they had opted to initially forfeit their category.”
