And it was a day for reminding us how good pure piste skis can be. Both the Scott Wind and Fischer Progressor 9 stood out as being an absolute hoot. The off-piste was a lttle gluey and sticky leaving the all mountain skis compromised and the field open to the solid performance of piste skis.
The core Fall-Line contingent enjoyed a full day under booming Italian sunshine and were still able to find stashes of powder from the previous days. They'd opted for the 16-hour car journey from Blighty that was in a nutshell, "Long, nerve-wracking and the moonlit passes were just gorgeous!" Some of the most beautiful journeys the main man, Dickie has ever made – apparently riding those passes (in a BMW X5 which was "outstandingly capable going around those passes") under full moon compares to any riding he has ever had, "the full scale of the mountains but in a really weird way!"
This is in stark contrast to the wanna-be veggie and team photographer James' journey out. He opted for a train from London yesterday afternoon – while his mode of transport may have cunningly avoided the hideous 4am wake up on a Sunday, he was lambasted for his shrewdness with a 24-hour journey time. (Although if taking a wander around Paris, meeting a bunch of strangers and sinking wine at midnight in the sleeper carriage is your thing, he actually could be said to have out-performed his 220bhp team mates.)
We're going to be here all week so stay tuned for actual performance reviews of next years kit.
