Austria’s biggest superpipe

While many of Europe’s resorts have struggled to get their season underway, the Kitzsteinhorn resort in Austria recently opened its superpipe running alongside the snowpark.

Designed according to American standards, the monster of a halfpipe measures in at 160m long and boasts 6.3m walls. “Pipe Master” Alli Zehenter was called in to assist park designer Stefan Plattner on the project. He has also been approached for the Olympic Pipe constructions for 2014 in Sochi and is internationally regarded as a great pipe designer.

Soon after the pipe opened, it hosted an international FIS halfpipe contest, which also served as a qualifying contest for the Youth Olympic Games 2012. The superpipe certainly impressed with its size and shape proving it’s worth. The pipe is open to the public now and all children and adolecents under 19 can get a day ticket for an unbeatable 10 Euros!
