It all started with the Dew Tour in Killington where Elias Ambuehl stole the second spot on the podium. His efforts have propelled his official AFP rankings to the top five in the world and leaves him in second place in the overall Dew Tour rankings with only one more comp to go.
The Dew Tour is a competition series that we don't see much coverage of over here in Europe but which has one of the largest prize purses going. Riders in slopestyle and halfpipe, skiers and snowboarders battle it out at three events to grab a slice of an mind-boggling $2.5 million (USD)! Shit, who said skiing didn't pay? - just bear in mind every rider in the top six was throwing double corks as standard.
Further bolstering the team's morale Atomic have bought in the services you young-gun halfpipe destroyer from Canada, Mike Riddle. Riddle is apparently stoked to be partnering with Atomic – if you've not heard of him then come out from under your rock! Riddle had become one of the world's leading halfpipe riders constantly placing high at Dew Tour and X Games events.
So if that's not enough, the rest of the team have come out with fighting talk for this weekend's X Games, which they are gunning to win. The 15th edition of this world class competition will be taking place in Aspen from 27-30th January. With Elias Ambuehl tipped to slay the big air and slopestyle, the money's on Jossi Wells and Angeli VanLaanen for the halfpipe. And that's not to forget the most recent signing, MIke Riddle, who will no doubt be eager to prove his worth.
