We love Japan

For some people, the lure of Japan's powder is the sole reason for going. But it has plenty more up its sleeve. In fact, we've rounded up five reasons why Japan is probably the world's greatest skiing spot. And yes, one of them does begin with P...

Powder: to shred or enjoy?

So you have all the gear: fat skis, transceiver, shovel, probe, ABS backpack, helmet, back protection. You swerved the nighttime activities of: Dicks, the Underground Bar, the Farinet, Jacksys etc, and with a clear head you made the first lift. The Espace Killy, the ski area Val d'Isère shares with the neighbouring resort of Tignes, has a staggering 24,710 acres of off-piste. 24,710 acres! Add to that plenty of steep stuff, a fantastic lift system and some of the best restaurants and bars in the Alps and it’s easy to see why local Ben Langridge has made it his home for the last six years. He tells us about the best places to ski, skin and party...
