It's a great ski in this category; it simply flies up hills because there's plenty of float without the drag of a fatter ski. Black Diamond have put a lot of effort into the downhill, too, and in the Stigma's case they've balanced the weight with performance very cleverly. A winner for the more tour-oriented backcountry type.
